Process Development Scientist (Bio-Conjugation)

ADC BIO is an innovative biotechnology Company developing new process technology to speed, simplify and significantly lower the production costs of the latest generation of anti-cancer blockbuster drugs, Antibody Drug Conjugated (ADCs).

This role is a permanent position based in the Process Development Group and the key responsibilities are:

  • develop processes for the conjugation, purification and formulation of antibody drug conjugates
  • perform process robustness, characterisation and optimisation studies
  • process scale up (and ultimately transfer into GMP facilities)
  • Formulation development and stability studies as required

The position will initially be laboratory based but for the right candidate will offer job progression which could encompass elements of project and staff planning and management.

Qualification and Experience

Minimum of a BSc degree in Biological/Biochemical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or related discipline with good practical lab experience.

Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Essential experience in this position would include Significant Practical Experience in at least one of the following aspects:

Protein Conjugation/Modification

  • Knowledge of protein modification or conjugation chemistry techniques

Protein Purification Process Development

  • Preparative Chromatography – Prot A/G, IEX, GFC, HIC
  • Tangential Flow Filtration – UF/DF
  • Filtration – selection/sizing

Protein Analysis

  • HPLC based techniques for protein and antibody characterisation -SEC, RP, HIC etc
  • SDS-PAGE
  • UV/VIS, Bradford, etc
  • ELISA, SPR

Highly Desirable Experience for this position would include:

  • Previous biotech industry experience in process development or process scale up / manufactur ing.
  • Experience in the use of Experimental Design (DOE) and statistical data analysis
  • Experience of protein formulation screening/development

Salary & Benefits Package

Salary will be commensurate with experience and is likely to be in the range of £20 000 to £30 000 per annum base on a 40 hour week

Other benefits include a generous holiday entitlement of 25 days plus 8 bank holidays plus a Xmas shut down – (if applicable 3 days gratis holiday during that period) and a 3% contribution to a workplace pension (Peoples pension).

 

[1] ADC Biotechnology will relocate to a new cGMP facility in Deeside, North Wales Oct/Nov 2018 and this position will be located in the new facility
